Rockford IL, (October 2) - Women's Soccer moves to 9-0-1 in Region IV play with a tough draw vs South Suburban. The game was a close one through most of the game with Rock Valley creating a majority of their chances in a much better second half attacking performance.
Anika Elgin opened the scoring through a
Jocelyn Harms assist early in the second half. Freshman and Boylan Catholic High School standout
Emma Ambrose hit a screamer from 30 yards out to give RVC their second goal of the night and came close on a few other shots. South Suburban worked hard throughout the game and it paid off as they capitalized on a couple mistakes. "It is a little bit frustrating that we conceded the way we did, but it is a good learning experience for us at this point of the season. If we learn from and fix a few things that occurred in the buildup to the goals than we keep a another clean sheet. I am proud of the determination and the urgency we showed in the second half. Hitting the crossbar and a few near misses may go in on a different day but at least we had the mentality to get ourselves into good positions." Head Women's Coach
Kevan Watkins stated.
