Rock Valley v Kennedy-King: Match Preview
Â
Wednesday afternoon will mark the halfway point in the season for the Golden Eagles, and the second of four straight home games in the month of September, the longest such stretch this season.
Â
Saturday's Elgin game did not disappoint, the two teams drew 1-1 and for the third consecutive time it needed to be decided in overtime. In each of those three matches against Elgin, RVC trailed 1-0 in each of them. Head coach
Tim Romanello will look to have his side get off to a better start Wednesday afternoon against Kennedy-King.
Â
Rock Valley ranks inside the top ten in four major team statistical categories, but despite all their efforts, the Golden Eagles rank just outside the top 25 in goals. After averaging nearly four-goals-per-game to begin the year through the first four games, the Golden Eagles seen their production slip and have scored just once in each of their last two matches. The constant voice at training this past week has been their production in front of goal, seemingly their key to getting back into the win column.
Â
Kennedy-King will be the fourth team in 2022 that the Golden Eagles have never played before. Historically, RVC is 14-8-2 in first-time matchups, but are only 3-4-1 in the next match following a tie. Rock Valley will need the combination of stingy defense and production in front of goal on Wednesday afternoon to improve upon both trends.
