RVC Beats Monroe and Brookdale to Advance

The Golden Eagles are off to a strong start on day one in the 2022 NJCAA DIII Softball National Tournament. Game one saw RVC face off against the #8 seed Monroe College-Bronx in the national first round. The Golden Eagles would jump out to defeat the Express 10-3 with help from an 8 run onslaught in the second inning. Madison Carlson would get the win in the circle after facing 29 batters and throwing 92 strikes with 6 strike outs. RVC's offense was led by Kayla Freiberg and Evy Polsfuss with two hits each and Kelli Riordan with 3 RBIs in the game.    

The Golden Eagles would have a close game in the second round against #4 seed Brookdale 2-1. Southern Illinois commit Hannah Hockerman took home the win in the circle for game two pitching all seven innings facing 27 batters, throwing 106 strikes and striking out nine batters. Kaitlin Stefek and Jenna Turner would drive in the two runs scored for the Golden Eagles in the win.

RVC moves on to play in today's National Semi-Final game at 6pm CT against the #2 seed Corning. Corning was the 2021 NJCAA DIII National Runner-Up to the Golden Eagles.
