The Rock Valley College softball team has punched its ticket to the 2022 NJCAA DIII Softball National Tournament. The Golden Eagles won the Midwest District Championship on Wednesday night over 7
th ranked Owens Community College by the scores of 10-2 in game one and 7-2 in game two, securing its ninth straight trip to the NJCAA DIII National Tournament in Dewitt, NY.
In game one, the Golden Eagles were led by
Kaitlin Stefek,
Jenna Turner,
Kelli Riordan, and
Grace Stevenson all with two hits in the game. Riordan led the Golden Eagles with 3 RBIs in game one.
In game two, RVC was led by
Kayla Freiberg's 3 hits. While Stefek, Turner, Riordan, Polsfuss,
Bella Crimaldi and
Madison Carlson each had 1 RBI a piece.
The Golden Eagles are an astounding 44-11 on the season and are the #1 ranked team in the NJCAA DIII. They now await to see who they will play in their first game at the National Tournament while seeking a historic eighth consecutive national championship for softball. No team in the history of the NJCAA (all divisions) has ever accomplished this feat in softball.
