The Rock Valley baseball season came to an end in the Region IV tournament this past weekend. The Golden Eagles were eliminated on Friday in a loss to MATC. The Golden Eagles finished the season with a 21-29-1 record. They earned the 5th seed in the Region Tournament. Several records were set this season on the base paths; both
Evan Tocmo and
Nikolas Clark set the stolen base record with 29 steals on the season.
Ryan Sell earned himself NJCAA Player of the Week with an excellent outing against D1 Olive Harvey where he tossed a complete game shut out and struck out 11 batters. The Golden Eagles had 3 different winning streaks over the season, after playing a tough spring break schedule the Golden Eagles finished the season 20-18-1.
Player Highlights:
Hitting
Nikolas Clark had a strong freshman season for the Golden Eagles. Tied in the team lead in stolen bases and led the team in batting average at .340
Brett Freiberg had a very solid season for the Golden Eagles. Posting a .376 OBP and finished 3rd on the team in RBIs.
Evan Tocmo led the team in BB, Doubles and tied for 1st in SB. He was second on the team for hits and average.
Payton Matthews led the team in extra base hits with 20, as well as home runs with 4.
Pitching
Gavin Vrana had a really good season for the Golden Eagles, appearing in more innings than any other pitcher.

Steven Kleyheeg appeared in more games than any pitcher this season. Giving the Golden Eagles solid starts all season.
Ryan Sell had a good season on the mound. Led the team in ERA for anyone that saw more than 20 innings.
