The Golden Eagles finished off their season with a victory over Dallas - Eastfield to finish 3rd in nation at the NJCAA DIII National Tournament. The Golden Eagles defeated the Generals of Herkimer CC in the opening round of the tournament by a score of 56 to 38. RVC held the Generals to 32% shooting from the field in the defensive effort. Coming into the game Herkimer had the #1 ranked defense and RVC had the #2 ranked defense. In the second round the Golden Eagles faced off against #1 seeded Riverland, who entered the game with a 29-1 record. The Golden Eagles saw three players (Aleksa Markovic, Malik Marshall, Nick Pierson) score 18pts in this 75-60 victory over the Blue Devils. Then the Golden Eagles faced off against the Blazers of Dallas-North Lake in the semi-finals. In this heavy weight match up the Blazers of North Lake out lasted the Golden Eagles with a score of 66-65. The Golden Eagles struggled down the stretch only scoring 2pts in the final 6min of the game. Malik Marshall had a chance to win the game at the buzzer but his shot was just off the mark. However, Rock Valley would bounce back on Saturday to claim a 3rd place trophy with the victory over Dallas-Eastfield. This was the 5th ever trophy that the men's basketball program had brought home to RVC.
