Men's Basketball Competes in the 54th Annual Highland Tournament

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 The Golden Eagles competed in the 54th annual Highland Christmas Tournament this weekend. In the first round they faced #22 Southeastern CC (IA). The Golden Eagles found themselves on the losing end in the first round, dropping game one 68-55. Blessing Nwotite was tied for a team high 12pts and added 8 rebounds. Daniel Rosado scored 12pts off the bench and Antonio Leavy scored 10pts and grabbed 9rebs in his debut. In the Highland tournament you find some unusual scheduling that you wont find in any other tournament. The Golden Eagles played a second game on the day against #12 Moberly CC, each team in the tournament will play two games on either Friday or Saturday. The Golden Eagles found themselves with an early lead in this game and a 19-19 tie with under 10min to go in the first half but the Greyhounds would stretch that lead out headed into halftime. The Golden Eagles would get it to 12pts with 7min to go in the game but could not get it any closer as they lost 88-69. In the third and final game the Golden Eagles squared off against Elgin CC. They took down the Spartans with a final score of 86-71. A big game from Anotonio Leavy as he posted 24pts and 12rebs on 12-14 shooting. Blessing Nwotite filled stat sheet with 19pts, 8rebs and 7asts, on 8-11 shooting and 2-3 from behind the arc. Also in double digits were George Williams and Jordan Majeed with 12 a piece, along with Daniel Rosado who chipped in 11pts.

The Golden Eagles are off until January 4th, when they will face Harper College.
