The Golden Eagles bounced back with a pair of wins against Black Hawk and Kankakee this past week. Previously the men's team dropped two tough games to NJCAA D1 opponents Moberly Area CC and State Fair CC in the Moberly Thanksgiving Classic.

Thursday night the Golden Eagles traveled to Moline, IL to take on the Black Hawk Braves. The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early 6-0, they saw that lead slip away at the 15min mark of the first half but would quickly regain it and head into half time with a 37-33 lead. RVC would take control of the second half and remain in control until the final buzzer. The Golden Eagles would get up as much as 17pts in the second half, the Golden Eagles ultimately outlasting the Braves and coming away with 80-68 victory. All five starters scsored in double digits. Malik Marshall lead all scores with 19pts. Aleksa Markovic scored 16pts and grabbed 8rbs. Chris Burnell scored 16pts, George Williams chipped in 13pts and Nick Pierson finished with 10pts and 7rbs.

Saturday afternoon RVC took on Kankakee in a very exciting game. There were 13 lead changes and 6 ties in the game. The Golden Eagles and Cavaliers went back and forth in the first half with 10 lead changes, at the break the Golden Eagles lead 26 - 24. However the poor shooting of the Golden Eagles would allow the Cavaliers to take a 14pt lead with 12min to go in the game. The game changed for the Golden Eagles after a couple steals from Dominic Dawsey and Taijon Barry that lead to easy buckets for the Golden Eagles. RVC would climb back into the game and tie it up 60-60 just under 2min left in the game. With timely stops the Golden Eagles were able to seal the game down the stretch and take the 65-61 victory. Nick Pierson had a game high 21pts and added 8rbs. Aleksa Markovic had 14pts and 9rbs, as the only other starter in double figures. Jackson Copley had a big game off the bench scoring 12pts.

The Golden Eagles move to 6-5 on the season. They take on Kishwaukee CC Tuesday in Dekalb, IL. Tip-Off is at 7:00pm
