Palos Hills, IL: #11 RVC Women's Basketball traveled to NJCAA DII Moraine Valley Community College on Friday night. The Golden Eagles would jump out to an early lead in the first quarter. Before going into a back and forth battle with Moraine in which they would take the lead heading into the second quarter 20-17.
RVC would come out hot in the second quarter. The Golden Eagles would go on a 17-9 run during the quarter behind a spark from
Breeyona Burrell of the bench who had 9 points for the game 7 of which came in the 2
nd quarter. "Bree was a great offensive spark for us as we were trying to find some consistency and she was that for us at that point of the game" Stated Head Coach

The second half the Golden Eagles would continue to battle with the Cyclones while holding on to their lead. "It was a game of runs and we really battled some tough adverse situations. We dialed in on the defensive end, hit some big key shots from (Rittmeyer, Murray and Burrell) in big situations and came together as a unit to secure this win." Stated Watkins
RVC would go on to win the basketball game by a final score of 86-81. "This was a huge team win for us on the road against a solid Moraine Valley squad " said Head Women's Basketball CoachÂ
Darryl Watkins. "Moraine battled with us the entire game, when we thought we had the chance to put them away with a big run they made a run of their own. But our ladies withstood those runs and came out on top."
The Golden Eagles were led by huge games from freshman's
Ashanti Brown (36 points, 12 rebounds),Â
Camron Blank (23 points, 19 rebounds). "They stepped up and took control of the game for us today. When we needed a bucket they both answered the call. You don't usually see freshman step up in moments like those and those two did to help us get the victory." Stated Watkins

RVC heads into the Holiday Break with a 4-9 record and as the 11
th ranked team in the country. The Golden Eagles will be back in action on December 30
th against South Suburban College at #TheNest. Tip off time is set for 1:00 PM.
