Chicago, IL- #3 RVC Women's Basketball comes away with its seventh straight win Saturday afternoon 75-66 over Wright College. The Golden Eagles improve to 17-6 overall and (7-0) in N4C.
The Golden Eagles started the game off slow trailing early in the game on Saturday afternoon against the Rams. "We just were not defending the basketball well, we were allowing them to cut as they please and shoot and hit uncontested shots." Stated Watkins.
The Golden Eagles would soon flip the switch finishing the quarter on a 17-1 run. "Our ladies had somewhat woke up midway through the first quarter and got control of the lead and that credit was to our defensive pressure led by Lex who had 12 first quarter points mainly to the fact of her defensive effort sitting down on Wrights guards and forcing them to be uncomfortable and forcing turnovers. We started putting together stops and getting into our transition game." Stated Watkins Â
The Golden Eagles saw three of it players scoring in double figures. The Golden Eagles were led by freshman
Maria Hilby (12 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals) and
Samantha Harris (18 points, 11 rebounds), and
