Hot Shooting and Bench Play Propel Golden Eagles to Victory

Rockford, IL- #4 RVC Women's Basketball comes out on top on Friday night 76-61 over Moraine Valley Community College. The Golden Eagles improve to 10-5 on the season.

The Golden Eagles came out hot. The 3pt shot was falling early and often for RVC who built an early 27-15 lead over the Cyclones. "We came out shooting the ball really well from behind the arch. It helped us build an early lead in which we were able to control the game from. "Stated Watkins. The Golden Eagles opened the first half of the game going 7-18 from the 3pt line and finished the game 14-36.

A lead in which the Golden Eagles would need seeing 4 players including 3 starters get into early foul trouble. "It was a tight game called last night, we didn't adjust early to how it was being called so we saw some of our ladies sitting in key moments of the game, but we always preach when one of your teammates is struggling someone else has to step up and have your sisters back." said Head Women's Basketball Coach Darryl Watkins. RVC did just that getting great minutes from Alexcia Neal and Taylor Kemmet off the bench.
"Lexi was huge again for us today. Her energy is something every coach dreams of. You know you're going to get 150% effort from her every time she steps on the court and today she helped will us to a win." Stated Watkins. Neal's energy along with Malcomson's hot shooting down the stretch of the second half helped close the door on Moraine Valley and push the Golden Eagles to victory.

The Golden Eagles were led by freshman's Hannah Malcomson (26 points, 6 rebounds), and Marissa Kershner (12 points, 6 rebounds) and sophomores Carson Nitz (10 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assist) and Alexcia Neal with a big time double-double (14 points,16 rebounds).
