Peoria, IL- #4 RVC Women's Basketball fell on Tuesday night 59-92 to #10 Illinois Central College. The Golden Eagles fall to 9-5 on the season.

The Golden Eagles started out slow quickly falling behind 11-2 within the first 3 minutes of the first quarter. "We came out flat from the tip-off, We gave up an easy look at the rim in transition and a 3pt to the best shooter on ICC team within the first 3 possessions of the game." Stated Watkins. Our sense of urgency, and our will to defend it just was not there to start the game.

The second quarter would seriously be a change of pace as the Golden Eagles would go on a 23-14 run to take a 41-40 lead with 2 minutes left in the first half led by Hannah Malcomson and Marissa Kershner 10 points each before ICC would close the half on a 4-0 run of their own to take a lead in which Rock Valley would never recover from. " It seemed like we had finally got our footing in the second quarter when we went on our run to take the lead, but a couple of mental mistakes down the stretch of the half allowed ICC to regain their control and finish the half strong." said Head Women's Basketball Coach Darryl Watkins.

The Golden Eagles would not recover as in the the 3rd quarter of the game Illinois Central would go on a 29-8 run that would ultimately seal Rock Valley's fate. "I know this sounds like a broken record by now to the kids but we talk about putting together a full 40 minutes of focus and effort on a daily and if we don't that will hurt us, and again tonight that was the case. We played 15 minutes of Rock Valley style basketball. The other 25 was not our best." Stated Watkins ICC is a good team, they have played an extremely tough schedule just like we have and it shows both of our records and it is a reason why they are ranked 10th in the latest NJCAA DII poll. These type of games are continuing to develop our young team. We are learning and I am confident that we will be peaking at the right part of our season from these National tournament type of games we have played early in the season.

The Golden Eagles were led by freshman's Hannah Malcomson (13 points), and Marissa Kershner (10 points) and sophomore Carson Nitz (10 points).
