Champaign, IL- #6 RVC Women's Basketball fell short on Saturday afternoon losing heavy weight match 69-74 to #10 Parkland Community College. The Golden Eagles fall to 9-4 on the season.

The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early 16-12 lead in the first quarter. "We came out with big time energy and were ready to go from the tip-off." Stated Watkins. Our sense of urgency was there to start the game. We talked about it this week that heading to Parkland would be a tough place to play and that they would be up for us to make a statement to the nation.

The second quarter would seriously hurt the Golden Eagles as Parkland would go on a run to take the lead for the rest of game. "Parkland came out and capitalized on our mistakes in the 2^nd quarter. They went on a 17-2 run to build a 13-point halftime lead." said Head Women's Basketball Coach Darryl Watkins. The Golden Eagles would finish the half on a 8-2 run of their own leading into the 2^nd half of the game in which Rock Valley would outscore the Cobras, 43-35, but it would be too little too late as Parkland's 2^nd quarter surge would be the story of the game and ultimately too much to overcome.
 
"We talk about putting together a full 40 minutes of focus and effort on a daily and if we don't that will hurt us, in this game it hurt us. We played 33 minutes of solid basketball. The other 7 was our downfall." Stated Watkins Parkland is a good team, they are now 10-0 and ranked 10^th in the latest NJCAA DII poll. We don't have time to sit back and sulk in defeat as we have to have a quick bounce back as our schedule continues to challenge us as we head down to Peoria, IL to play NJCAA DII #12 Illinois Central College on Tuesday December 17^th.
 
The Golden Eagles were led by freshman's Hannah Malcomson (22 points), and Maria Hilby (10 points) and sophomore Carson Nitz (14 points).
