The Rock Valley Golden Eagles Men's Soccer team got off to a slow start to open the 2018 season Tuesday evening.

The Eagles settled in and started to play at higher level with confidence and had several outstanding opportunities to score goals but could not find the back of the net. Elgin got on the board first, finding the back of the net at the 30 minute mark of the 1st half. The 2nd half the Eagles put pressure on Elgin's defense and had several opportunities, but came up short on each shot.

The Golden Eagles finally scored their first goal with about 14 minutes left in the game. Alberto Martinez finished off the goal with an assist from Kresimir Majdandzic. The game ended 2-1 in Elgin's favor.

Coach Frank Horvat said, "We clearly we have a lot of potential right now but we're still not working together and being consistent enough. Overall Elgin overall played a better match than we did and unfortunately probably really did deserve the win the game at this point in our early season." Horvat went on to say, "still feel very confident about the group we have and looking forward to getting another week of training and prepping for next week and everything really begins to start getting crazy."

The Golden Eagles return to the pitch August 27th against McHenry County College.
