Rock Valley College Baseball comes off its best season in history posting a 34-22 record and looks for continued success in the Spring of 2019.  Golden Eagle Ball had a lot to be excited about in 2018 campaign as they recorded the best record in school history. Keegan Mickey won the 2018 Rawlings/ABCA Gold Glove for the best NJCAA DIII Catcher in the country, while head coach Chad Herren won the N4C Coach of the year. Several other players earned post season accolades and moved onto four-year institutions.

In the spring of 2019, RVC Baseball will look to continue on its previous success while hitting the road to Moraine Valley Community College on March 5th in Region IV play, prior to taking off for its annual spring break trip.  The guys' hit the road and will make a pit stop at North Arkansas College for a double header on Friday, March 8th in Harrison, AR.  The team then heads down into Dallas, TX to face tough teams, including several that will be in the NJCAA DIII National Rankings.  On Sunday March 10th, RVC plays the always tough Richland College for two, then competes against Eastfield College for a single 9-Inning game on March 11th, and then heads over to play Cedar Valley College for a 9-Inning game on the 12th.  During this trip, there is not many breaks as the team will play Northland Area Technical College (MN) on a neutral site at Richland College for a 12pm Double Header on March 13th.  To finish off the spring break trip, the Golden Eagles will play at North Lake College for a 3 pm 9-Inning game on the 14th of March to head back to Rockford, IL.

"I am excited to see this team open up in March and compete," Coach Herren comments. "We put together a solid fall and feel we can continue to play and be at a high level, but have to continue to come out prepared each and every day."  The Golden Eagles will continue to play tough competition in Region IV play and post a tough schedule in the N4C conference where RVC finished second place a year ago.

Rock Valley College baseball returns several key pieces from a year ago with All-Region IV players James Marcinkowski and Carlos Arteaga, along with N4C All-Conference Drew Behling.  "We look forward to these guys, along with a few other sophomores to carry a big load this spring.  Plus, the addition of several freshmen that we are very excited about and will need to be big if we have continued success this spring", says coach Herren.

The Golden Eagles will continue to play through the months of March, April, and May with the goal to get to the NJCAA DIII Baseball National Tournament held in Greenville, TN at the end of May.  The Golden Eagles always appreciate their fan base and don't hesitate to stop by the ball field and root on #GoldenEagleBall this spring.
