Box Score #10 RVC Women's Basketball wasted no time starting off 2018 with a bang. The Golden Eagles traveled to #2 NJCAA DIII Joliet Junior College and earned a 68-59 win. The Golden Eagles start off N4C play 1-0.

"We did a nice job of carrying over what we worked on in practice into the game," said Misty Opat, Head Women's Basketball Coach. "The biggest thing is that we played tough and together. Like any other game, we made mistakes, but we just kept on working. Hopefully this will be the spark that we need to continue to work hard and trust in one another. There is still plenty of room for improvements, and we are excited to move forward in N4C play."

The Golden Eagles came out fast and aggressive, immediately taking a 17-9 advantage after the first quarter. RVC played a strong second quarter, despite being hampered by foul trouble. The #2 ranked Wolves did not go down without a fight. Joliet clawed back into the game, and took a lead early in the fourth quarter. The Golden Eagles responded with strong free throw shooting down the stretch, as well as a boost from sophomore Paige Wogen, who hit 2 shots from 3-point land that helped take and extend the RVC lead. The Golden Eagle defense made numerous stops in the game's remaining minutes to secure the victory.

Freshman Kalea Kruser led the way with 12 points and 10 rebounds - her second career double-double. Wogen added 10 points off the bench. Jessie Schiro had a strong floor game of 7 assists and 4 rebounds to go along with her 9 points. Q' Avery also contributed 9 points.
