M-Soccer: Golden Eagles Defeat Joliet
In a high scoring affair, the Rock Valley College Men's Soccer team knocked off the visiting Wolves of Joliet Junior College. This win moves the Golden Eagles to 4-1 - the best start in the
Frank Horvat era.
"We started out flat and unfocused mentally," stated Head Men's Soccer Coach
Frank Horvat. "I am proud of our fight. We responded well after halftime as we played harded and more as a unit. Joliet is no small task. I am very pleased with the entire body of work our guys put together this evening."
Joliet struck first with a goal in the 1st minute.
Alt Flores found the back of the net in the 20th minute to tie the score at 1. After halftime, Joliet struck first again, taking a 2-1 advantage. The Golden Eagles then scored 3 unanswered goals -
Saul Vilchis (58th minute),
Antonio Reyes (60th minute), and
Jesse Hurder (77th minute) - to take a commanding 4-2 lead. Joliet scored in the 88th minute, but it proved to be too little, too late.
"We have a long ways to go," said a proud Horvat. "We just need to keep working."
