Box Score #8 Rock Valley College Men's Basketball, behind a dominant second half performance, defeated RV NJCAA DIII Elgin Community College 85-62 on Tuesday night. The Golden Eagles move to 11-1 while the Spartans fall to 7-3 overall.

"If we can figure out how to get into the flow of the game in the first half, we could become a really nice basketball program," said Head Men's Basketball Coach Evan Lavery. "We are taking pride in starting the second half strong. We need to replicate that effort and attention to detail throughout the entire duration of the game. Our sophomore did a nice job of leading the charge. Coach Gossett, as always, did a fine job preparing our team with his scouting report. There are many teachable moments from this game, and we need to keep improving. There is so much basketball left to be played this season."

Despite only winning by 4 points on the road at half, the Golden Eagles rallied early in the second half to talk a 14-point lead, causing an Elgin timeout. RVC did not look back, stretching the lead to as much as 25 points. Sophomore DeMari Davis recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Darius Branch added 15 points and 7 assists. DeAnte Barnes contributed 14 points and 7 rebounds, while Elijah Pappas scored 14 points as well, to go along with his 6 rebounds. Malique Ross added 13 points in the game.
