W-Basketball: #10 Golden Eagles Fall to NJCAA DI Malcolm X College
Box Score #10 Rock Valley College Women's Basketball got tripped up on the road 84-79 at Malcolm X College on Tuesday evening. The Golden Eagles fall to 4-11 overall to conclude non-conference play.
In a back and forth battle for 40 minutes, RVC found themselves trailing by 2 points to enter halftime. RVC cut the lead to 1 point to head into the fourth quarter. It was Malcolm X, though, who shot a red-hot 11-16 FG (68.8%) to put the finishing touches on the nationally ranked Golden Eagles. Plagued by turnovers (23) and allowed offensive rebounds (21), RVC was unable to put the Lady Hawks away on their home court.
"We have got to get better," said
Misty Opat, Head Women's Basketball Coach. "We do a lot of things correctly, but in order to win on the road, you need to play exceptional basketball. We had our opportunities and we did not capitalize. We have played a difficult non-conference schedule. We hope to see this pay off as we now enter N4C play."
RVC was led by Madi Hecox's 21 points. Paige Wogen made her sophomore debut and added 20 points.
Emily Cox contributed 17 points.
