Box Score #8 RVC Basketball extended their winning streak to 10 games over the weekend with a 69-58 victory over NJCAA DI Kankakee Community College. The Golden Eagles improve to 13-1 overall.

RVC jumped out to an early lead in the first half. Despite sophomore big man DeMari Davis sitting a majority of the half with foul trouble, the Golden Eagles worked their way to a 16-point (43-27) advantage to enter halftime. In the second half, the Golden Eagles struggled to finish offensive possession with made field goals. RVC eventually got up as much as 18 points in the second half, thanks to back-to-back three-point field goals from Malique Ross. Thanks to some timely defensive stops and key finishes down the stretch, the Golden Eagles were able to hold the Cavaliers at arm's length.

"I thought we played very well in the first half to earn a strong lead," said Head Men's Basketball Coach Evan Lavery. "As the second half started, we had a few miscues defensively, and did not attack offensively like we should have. Once we settled in, we were able to maintain control of the game. At times it was not pretty, but road games are never a walk in the park. We showed some grit, and made the necessary plays in order to get the job done."

Sophomore DeAnte Barnes recorded his 3rd double-double in the last 4 games with 17 points and 15 rebounds. Barnes also added 5 assists. Davis added a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Ross recorded 16 points. Darius Branch had 11 points to round out the Golden Eagles in double figure scoring.
