W-Basketball: Golden Eagles Tripped Up by #18 NJCAA DII Illinois Central
Box Score RVC Women's Basketball continued with their tough non-conference schedule on Wednesday night at #18 NJCAA DII Illinois Central College. The Golden Eagles came up just short to the Cougars, falling 80-69 in East Peoria, IL.
"The game was tight throughout," said
Misty Opat, Head Women's Basketball Coach. "It was a 4-point game at halftime, and a 5-point game after 3 quarters. ICC is tough. They got a few more offensive rebounds, a few more loose balls, and finished a couple more plays at the basket. Our young team is getting better. We need to continue to work each day, play with a great sense of urgency, and be concerned about the next play."
The Golden Eagles were led by a trio of freshmen to pace their scoring attack. Q' Avery (Freeport, IL) finished with 16 points. Rockford East graduate Madi Hecox scored 12 points, while Hayley Sorenson (Bonduel,WI) added 11 points.
