W-Basketball: Black Hawk College No Match for RVC
Box Score The preseason #1-ranked NJCAA DIII Rock Valley College Women's Basketball won in convincing fashion on Tuesday night. The Golden Eagles knocked off Black Hawk College by a score of 91-38 in The Nest. 4 players scored in double figures, while all 11 players that appeared in the game scored. RVC Women's Basketball improves to 1-2 overall.
"I think our depth really took a toll on Black Hawk," said Head Women's Basketball Coach
Misty Opat. "We had 11 players get between 15-22 minutes. There is a lot of talent on this roster. There is also a lot of inexperienced players at the college level. We will continue to work each day so we can peak at the right time of the season."
The Golden Eagles jumped out of the gates strong, leading 16-9 after the first quarter, and 39-22 at halftime. RVC blew the game open in the third quarter by outscoring the visiting Braves 24-8. The Golden Eagle defense held Black Hawk to 27.3% shooting from the field, and forced 32 Brave turnovers. RVC also won the rebounding battle 56-33.
Freshman Madi Hecox led the Golden Eagles in scoring with 17 points. She also added 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Freshman Kalea Kruser added 14 points.
Anastasia Karaivanova and
Emily Cox added 11 points and 10 points, respectively.
