Despite a back and forth second half and frigid shooting performance by RVC, the Golden Eagles managed to get several key defensive stops down the stretch... DeAnte Barnes iced the contest with two free throws with 6.3 seconds remaining to secure the win for Rock Valley... RVC was paced by current Graceland (IA) student-athlete Alec Pena's 20 points and 9 rebounds... The Golden Eagles defeated NJCAA DII Kishwaukee College 78-62 to open the 2017-18 season... Four Golden Eagles scored in double figures to lead the way to a 1-0 start... The Golden Eagles led 37-34 at halftime, despite sophomore big man DeMari Davis (Indianapolis, IN) sitting a majority of the half due to foul trouble... RVC started the second half on a 17-4 run, which forced the visiting Kougars to play catch up the rest of the afternoon... The Golden Eagles shot 26-55 (47.3%) from the field, 11-24 (45.8%) from behind the arc, and 15-21 (71.4%) from the free throw line... Davis Commits to Flagler College
Last Friday, the first member of 2018 sophomore class made their commitment to a four-year college... Sophomore big man DeMari Davis committed to Chad Warner and NCAA D2 Flager College (FL)... The Indianapolis, IN native started 30 of 32 games… He led the Golden Eagles in rebounds per game (8.2) and field goal percentage (54.9%)… Davis averaged 9.0 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game in the 2016-17 season... He averaged 11.9 points per game, hauled in 7.9 rebounds per game, blocked 1.5 shots per game, and shot 60.5 percent in N4C play.
