M-Basketball: Golden Eagles Fall to #3 NJCAA DII Triton
Box Score Despite holding a one-point advantage early in the second half, the visiting Triton College Trojans (#3 NJCAA DII) proved to be too much for the #3 NJCAA DIII Rock Valley College Golden Eagles. Triton held on for a 67-56 win in "The Nest" during Saturday's finale to the 2017 Rumble in The Rock event. RVC falls to 16-6 overall, and 4-2 in N4C play.
"We played very, very hard," stated Head Men's Basketball Coach
Evan Lavery. "I am not upset whatsoever with our effort. When you play a team as talented as Triton, your margin for error is so small. When you take an unnecessary shot, or miss a lay-up, or be soft with the ball, you continually set yourself up for stressful situations on the other end. The few times we did that, they capitalized."
RVC was led by 15 points and 7 rebounds from sophomore
Jace Kitchen (DeKalb, IL).
Malique Ross (Montgomery, IL) contributed 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Elijah Pappas (Rockford, IL) added 10 points.
