W-Basketball: #2 RVC Remains Undefeated in N4C with Win Over College of DuPage
A three-headed monster of
Tierra McGowan,
Emily Cox, and
Jaycee Cleaver scored 58 of #2 RVC's 64 points in a 64-46 win at College of DuPage. The Golden Eagles are now 17-3 overall and 4-0 in N4C play.
Despite only leading by nine heading into the final quarter, #2 RVC dominated COD 17-8 in the final frame to pull away. With roughly 7 minutes remaining in the game, 2 made three-point field goals by Cox, key baskets by McGowan on the block, followed by 2 made three-point field goals from Cleaver proved to be too much to overcome for DuPage.
"We finally decided to play in a manner we are capable of in the fourth quarter," stated Head Women's Basketball Coach
Misty Opat. "We need to be better as we face a very difficult part of our schedule here over the next 2 weeks."
McGowan led the way with 24 points on 11-18 FG. She also contributed 9 rebounds. Cox added 19 points and 6 rebounds of her own while Cleaver just missed a double-double with 15 points and 9 rebounds. She also added a team-high 6 assists.
