M-Basketball: #1 Rock Valley defeats Joliet in Region Championship, play Mid Michigan for trip to New York

The Rock Valley College men's basketball program won their fourth consecutive NJCAA DIII Region IV Championship on Sunday defeating Joliet Junior College by a score of 94-75.

Mo Jackson, who was named MVP of the tournament, led the Golden Eagles with 20 points and contributed 6 assists. Elijah Williams (7-10 FG) had a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. LT Davis scored 17 points and hauled in 6 rebounds. Dalton Payton (13 points, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks) and Kooper Glick (12 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists) had great floor games for Rock Valley.

Along with Jackson's MVP award, Davis and Glick were named to the all-tournament team for the Golden Eagles who improve to 29-3 overall entering Tuesday's district championship vs. Mid Michigan Community College.

"Our guys played with an incredible focus and sense of urgency," head coach Craig Doty stated. "Joliet has a good team and are well-coached. Our guys understood that coming in and responded well. We have an awesome group of student-athletes. However, we are not done. We need to win on Tuesday to make it back to New York."

The Golden Eagles, who won their fourth consecutive region championship, three of those games against Joliet, play at home on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles have made three consecutive trips to New York placing 7th, winning the National Championship, and earning National Runner-up, respectively. Tip-off for the District game on Tuesday vs. Mid Michigan CC is scheduled for 7:00 PM in the Physical Education Center on the campus of Rock Valley College.
