W-Basketball: RVC Wins Lakeland Community College Classic
RVC Women's Basketball won the Lakeland Community College Classic (Kirtland, OH) this weekend with wins over NJCAA DII members Delta College (MI) 76-67, and 66-42 over host school Lakeland Community College (OH). The Golden Eagles improve to 3-2 overall. Sophomore
Chrisseesha Clark and
Jaycee Cleaver were named to the All-Tournament Team, while
Tierra McGowan was named MVP of the tournament.
"It was a great weekend for our program," stated Head Women's Coach
Misty Opat. "Between traveling as a group and winning a couple of games over scholarship-level junior colleges, our ladies were able to grow as a group. We still have a ways to go, but we took a step in the right direction."
Friday, November 11th - Delta College (W - 76-67)
Despite trailing by 3 at the half, the Golden Eagles would rally behind 19 points and 14 rebounds (8 offensive) from McGowan. Cleaver contributed 19 points on a smooth 11-12 performance from the free throw line. Freshman
Emily Cox also cracked double-figure scoring with 14.
Saturday, November 12th - Lakeland Community College (W - 66-42)
The Golden Eagles were in control from start to finish, knocking off the host school. McGowan posted another double-double with nearly the same numbers from Night 1, this time pouring in 18 points and ripping down 14 rebounds. Cleaver and freshman
Imani Brown added 10 points a piece. RVC mangled Lakeland on the glass, winning the rebounding battle 60-37. The Golden Eagle defense also held Lakeland to a frigid 26.0% shooting performance.

RVC hosts McHenry County College on Tuesday, November 15th at 5:30 PM. This marks the home opener for the Golden Eagles.
