Head Coach Misty Opat has led the Golden Eagles to three NJCAA DIII National Championships and a National Runner-up in the last four years. For three conseutive years Rock Valley College was the #1 team in the country. This season, RVC currently checks in at #5 after playing a very tough non-conference schedule and having a young roster which includes 10 freshman.

Meanwhile, conference rival Madison College features eight sophomores. The WolfPack are an experienced group who are well-coached and entered Wednesday's contest with a perfect 16-0 record and the #1 ranking in NJCAA DIII.

On this evening Rock Valley's tradition would flex its muscle as the Golden Eagles would protect their home court earning a 66-55 victory over Madison.

Brianna Davis (Rockford Auburn) would once again lead RVC in scoring posting a game-high 18 points in 29 minutes of action.  Tierra McGowan (Chicago Westinghouse) nearly missed a double-double scoring 12 points and ripping down 9 rebounds. Chrisseesha Clark (Rockford Auburn) played her best game in a Golden Eagles uniform scoring 8 points, grabbing 4 rebounds and not turning the ball over in nearly 20 minutes of action at the point guard position. Auri Hampton (Zion Benton) chipped in with 8 points for Rock Valley.

The Golden Eagles (13-6, 2-1 N4C) had one of their best defensive efforts of the season holding Madison, who averages scoring 76.5 points per game while shooting 40.3 percent from the field, to 55 points on the evening and a chilly 29.2% from the field.  The WolfPack was led by Jenna Endres with 14 points.

"This was an important win for our girls," reigning National Coach of the Year Misty Opat stated. "Our conference is as strong as it has ever been and it is going to be a battle all season.  We have some great coaches and administrators in the N4C and it has allowed our league to become perhaps the best league in the country. Despite our youth, our ladies played a very disciplined game on both ends of the floor allowing us to earn the win."

The Golden Eagles travel to Joliet on Saturday to play the Wolves of Joliet Junior College.  Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM on the JJC campus.
