Volleyball: RVC dominates at St. Ambrose Tournament over the weekend

The RVC volleyball team traveled to Davenport, Iowa on Saturday to play four 3-set matches in one day in the St. Ambrose University Tournament.  The Golden Eagles went 4-0 in the event defeating Iowa Central CC JV, Clarke University JV, St. Ambrose University JV, and Black Hawk-Moline.

In the first contest Rock Valley beat Iowa Central JV (Fort Dodge, IA) 25-18 in both sets to secure the victory.  The Golden Eagles kept the momentum in their second match defeating Clarke University JV (Dubuque, IA) in three sets (25-17, 15-25, 15-10).  In their third game, RVC earned a comeback victory against the host, St. Ambrose University JV.  After losing their first set 22-25, the Golden Eagles bounced back to win the second set 25-20 and completed the victory with a 15-13 advantage in the third.  In their fourth and final contest, RVC defeated NJCAA D2 member Black Hawk-Moline in three sets (25-20, 17-25, 15-11).

The four wins improve the Golden Eagles record to 17-5 on the season.  RVC returns to conference action on Tuesday at home vs. Milwaukee Tech. In their first meeting of the season, Rock Valley convincingly defeated the Stormers in three sets, 25-16, 25-16, 25-15.  In the win, Kaylee Sommers had 11 digs and 5 aces while Makenzie Macek had 11 kills and 4 aces.  Setter Jaycee Cleaver finished with 26 assists.  Game time on Tuesday is set for 6:00 PM on the campus of Rock Valley College in the Physical Education Center.
