Volleyball: Golden Eagles go 2-2 in Parkland Tournament over the weekend
The #5 NJCAA DIII ranked Rock Valley College Golden Eagles volleyball program traveled to Champaign, IL over the weekend to play four matches in two days against all NJCAA DII opponents.
In their first contest on Friday, RVC fell to Iowa Central (Fort Dodge, IA) 3-1. The Golden Eagles took the first set 25-18 before the Tritons won three straight (22-25, 17-25, 22-25).
Later the evening, the Golden Eagles avenged their loss with a victory over Jackson Community College (MI), 3-0.
"Iowa Central is a really good opponent and unfortunately we got complacent after winning the first set," head coach
Alyssa Tomei stated. "I am proud of the way our girls bounced back versus another division II opponent the following game."
On Saturday, RVC first played Rend Lake College (Ina, IL) and beat them in straight sets. The following match, the Golden Eagles played the #1 ranked team in NJCAA DII and the host team, Parkland College. Parkland defeated Rock Valley 3-0 to complete the tournament.
The Golden Eagles move their record to 12-4 on the season and still hold an undefeated conference record of 4-0. Their next contest is on the road at conference rival Madison College on Tuesday with a 6:00 PM start time.
