Volleyball: #5 RVC falls at #2 Madison College
In the battle of nationally ranked NJCAA DIII teams, #5 ranked Rock Valley College traveled to #2 ranked Madison College on Tuesday night and came up short. The Golden Eagles, who entered the contest with a perfect 4-0 record in N4C conference play, fell in four sets after winning the first (25-23, 21-25, 18-25, 15-25).
RVC struggled hitting the ball and finished with a team hitting percentage of 0.095. The loss moves the Golden Eagles to 12-5 on the season, 4-1 in the N4C.
"We took control early and was up 18-9 in the first set," head coach
Alyssa Tomei said. "Unfortunately, it was downhill from that point. When playing a defending national championship program we have to be engaged the entire match."
Makenzie Macek led the way for RVC with 16 kills and 16 digs.
Eden Meier had the best hitting efficiency with a .308.
The Golden Eagles return to the floor to take on College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL on Thursday. Game time is set for 6:00 PM.
