MOBERLY JUNIOR COLLEGE was founded in 1927 as part of the Moberly Public School System. One of the first two-year colleges of this type, classes were held in temporary quarters above a downtown store. Library and laboratory facilities were shared with the Moberly High School. In the fall of 1931, the College moved into a new facility located at College Avenue and Rollins Street, situated on approximately 29 acres (the present site of Moberly Area Community College). In 1984, a $2.5 million Fine Arts Wing was completed, housing a new library, a 600-seat auditorium, a Student Commons, 3 offices and classrooms. Over 22,000 sq. ft. were added to the Career Center, enabling all vocational programs to be located under one roof. The McCormick Commons and Residential Center, new bookstore, the MACC Activity Center and a Fine Arts Gallery have all been added to the college campus. Meanwhile, enrollment has doubled in the past 10 years and students come from all parts of MACC's 16-county service area in North Central and Northeast Missouri.
