The Golden Eagles women's basketball program improved to 3-0 on Tuesday evening with a 70-54 home win over NJCAA D1 member Highland Community College (Freeport, IL). RVC was led by Brianna Davis 25 points (10-17 FG). Jesania Laboy also hit double-figures adding 11 points. Auri Hampton filled up the box score producing 9 points and 8 rebounds. Tierra McGowan, one of the leading rebounders in the country, was limited to under 7 minutes of action due to foul trouble. However, McGowan was still able to haul in 10 rebounds in her limited minutes before fouling out.
"We played our best quarter so far this season in the 4th," head coach Misty Opat said. "Not only did we score 20 points we also held Highland to only 4 fourth quarter points. Our defense continues to be the reason why we succeed."
Highland took a 33-32 lead into halftime and the game was tied at 50 after three frames before the Golden Eagles secured the win with their 20-4 advantage in the fourth quarter.
The Golden Eagles travel to South Holland, Illinois to play South Suburban College on Saturday.Â
