M-Basketball: Rock Valley takes down Black Hawk in front of large home crowd
Box Score The #1 ranked Golden Eagles men's basketball program played NJCAA D2 member and previously undefeated Black Hawk College (Moline, IL) on Tuesday evening in the Physical Education Center on the campus of Rock Valley College. In a game that had five lead changes and seven ties, the Golden Eagles prevailed with an 83-76 victory over the visiting Braves.
"We had an outstanding crowd tonight," head coach
Craig Doty said. "Our student section, 'Arvee's Army,' and our other supporters were very important in this game. We needed every bit of energy they helped provide. Black Hawk is extremely well-coached and executed their spread offense very well."
RVC was led by big man
Elijah Williams with 25 points (6-8 FG, 13-17 FT) and 8 rebounds.
LT Davis contributed 17 points and 7 rebounds while
Mo Jackson and
Kooper Glick chipped in with 12 points each.
Dalton Payton filled up the box score for a second consecutive game producing 9 points (4-6 FG), 6 rebounds and 3 blocks in just over 28 minutes of action.
Rock Valley moves to 6-0 on the season while Black Hawk falls to 2-1 on the year. The Golden Eagles travel to Quincy, Illinois this weekend to play 2015 NJCAA D2 National Runner-up John Wood CC on Friday (7:00 pm) and NJCAA D2 member MaComb Community College (1:00 pm) out of Michigan in a two-day classic.
