Rock Valley Women's Soccer Battles No. 9 Joliet to 1-1 Draw in Region 4 Matchup

ROCKFORD, Ill. – Rock Valley College women's soccer turned in an impressive performance against nationally ranked Joliet Junior College, battling the No. 9 team in NJCAA Division III to a 1-1 draw in a competitive Region 4 matchup.

The Golden Eagles showed their ability to compete against nationally ranked opposition, overcoming a first-half deficit before taking control of the attacking opportunities throughout much of the second half.

Joliet opened the scoring in the first half when Lydia Wajda found the back of the net off an assist from Hannah Moss. Despite creating several opportunities of their own, the Golden Eagles entered halftime trailing 1-0.

Rock Valley responded with an increased attacking presence after the break, consistently putting pressure on the Joliet defense and generating quality scoring chances. The Golden Eagles found success through their buildup play, movement in the attacking third and ability to create space against a disciplined Joliet back line.

RVC's persistence paid off when Isabella "Izze" Fritz scored the equalizer off an assist from Emilia Arias, bringing the match level at 1-1.

The Golden Eagles continued to push forward following the equalizer, creating several dangerous opportunities to take the lead. Rock Valley struck the crossbar multiple times during the match and repeatedly tested the Joliet goalkeeper, narrowly missing several chances to secure the victory.

RVC finished with 17 shots, including 10 on goal, while limiting Joliet to 4 total attempts on target. Arias led the Golden Eagles with six shots, placing three on target, while Fritz recorded two shots, both on goal. Araceli Delgado added two shots on frame, with Sydney Stovall, Kassandra Jimenez and Keira Kelly also contributing to the attacking effort.

Joliet goalkeeper Giselle Aguirre-Almazan helped preserve the draw with 13 recorded saves, while the Golden Eagles continued searching for the decisive goal through the final minutes.

Defensively, Rock Valley remained organized and limited Joliet's opportunities after halftime. Jocelyn Harms played the full 90 minutes in goal for RVC, recording three saves while allowing just the one first-half goal in her first ever appearance as a goalkeeper.

Although the Golden Eagles were unable to convert their late opportunities into a game-winning goal, the performance demonstrated their ability to compete at a high level and dictate play against nationally ranked competition. Rock Valley's second-half response, consistent attacking pressure and numerous scoring chances highlighted the team's continued growth as postseason play approaches.

The 1-1 result against No. 9 Joliet provides another valuable test for the Golden Eagles as they continue preparing for the Region 4 postseason.
