Rock Valley Women's Soccer Extends Unbeaten Streak with Wins Over Madison College and Lincoln Land
The Rock Valley College Women's Soccer team continued its historic start to the 2025 season with dominant victories over Madison College and Lincoln Land Community College this past week. The Golden Eagles improved to 9-0 overall, marking the best start in program history.
In Wednesday's matchup against Madison College, RVC wasted no time asserting control, scoring six goals in the opening 25 minutes. Despite missing a first-half penalty and going down to 10 players just before halftime, the Golden Eagles continued their offensive push, adding to the lead in the second half while limiting the Wolves to just four total shots. The 7-0 victory marked the largest margin of victory over Madison College in program history.
On Saturday, the Golden Eagles faced a tough road test at Lincoln Land Community College, a team receiving votes in the NJCAA Division II national rankings. After a two-hour weather delay, sophomore Crystal Garcia opened the scoring in the 34th minute and doubled her tally early in the second half with a goal off a corner kick. The Loggers pulled one back late with a long-range strike in the 81st minute, but RVC held firm to secure a 2-1 victory.
Head Coach Kevan Watkins praised his team's adaptability across the two contests:
"It was a physical game that was completely different from our midweek game. The referees let the women play which led to an entertaining and hard-fought matchup. Lincoln Land definitely outsized us and did well winning 50/50 challenges early. Once we adjusted and got the ball down, we were able to create good chances. They were always dangerous on set pieces, so for us it was a bonus scoring off two of our own. It was a good challenge for us."
The Golden Eagles now turn their attention to the next stretch of Region IV play as they look to continue their unbeaten run at home vs Elgin Community College Monday 9/22/2025 at 4pm.
