Women's Soccer: Golden Eagles Memorable Season Ends at NJCAA National Tournament

11/18/2025 8:58:00 AM

The Golden Eagles' remarkable 2025 campaign came to a close on Tuesday after a difficult run at the women's national tournament, falling 3–0 to Holmes Community College in the opening game of pool play and then losing 2–0 to Mississippi Gulf Coast in the 2nd game of pool play. The pair of losses brought their final record to an impressive 17-4-2, marking the end of a season defined by resilience, depth, and standout performances across the roster.

The opening match against Holmes CC proved challenging from the start. The Golden Eagles worked to find their rhythm, but Holmes capitalized on key moments and converted their chances with efficiency. Despite the deficit, the Golden Eagles continued to push forward, generating spells of possession and dangerous looks in the attacking third, but ultimately were unable to break through a disciplined Holmes back line.

With limited recovery time, the Golden Eagles entered their second match determined to fight for a bracket play appearance. Mississippi Gulf Coast, however, applied pressure early and struck twice, leaving the Golden Eagles chasing in the rest of the match.

Though the tournament results were not what the Golden Eagles had hoped for, the broader picture tells a different story, one of a team that captured 17 wins, demonstrated consistency from August through postseason play, and showcased one of the program's most cohesive and competitive squads in recent memory. The Golden Eagles set a high standard and created a foundation for future success on the pitch.
