Rockford, IL – Rock Valley College Women's Soccer moves to (2-2-1) and (2-0) in region play with a road win vs Kankakee Community College (0-2-1) at 3pm today. #10 Emma Ambrose started the scoring from a freekick from 22 yards. The second goal came later in the first half from a #24 Sara Holguin strike from a #18 Rafaella Steckbeck cross. The Golden Eagles kept the pressure up through the half but were unable to find the net until an Emma Ambrose free kick found freshman #8 Giselle Farias on the back post for a free header. Sara Holguin then added her second of the game from inside the 18-yard box from good hold up play and a layoff by #7 Anika Elgin. Elgin then notched her 7th and 8th goals of the season, both assisted by #11 Sydney Carlson. Elgin now tops the NJCAA national scoring charts with 8 goals, finding the back of the net in all but one game in which she left early in the first half through injury. RVC was cruising to their second consecutive shutout in regional play before giving up a consolation goal in the final minute.
