Rock Valley v Milwaukee: Match Preview
Rock Valley College opened their 2023 campaign against 17th-ranked St. Louis last Saturday afternoon in a dramatic 2-1 fashion thanks to a 30-yard winner with four seconds remaining by freshman Reponse Shema. The Golden Eagles then dropped Sunday's match against St. Charles 5-0 as the two receiving vote sides squared off in temperatures that reached nearly 107-degrees.
The men will look to get back into the win column on Saturday versus a team they have largely have had success against both on the road and at home. After allowing six goals in the first two games of the season, head coach Tim Romanello will need to shore up a defensive side that was stingy throughout the 2022 campaign that only conceded 17 goals in the whole year.
The attack will look to get back on track and find some consistency. Throughout the preseason the attack found multiple goals, but managed only two over the opening weekend. Historically, the RVC men have averaged 4.93 goals against the Stormers.
"We lost ourselves [on Sunday] a little bit," said head coach Romanello following training this week. "We've addressed a lot from this weekend through film and at training. The guys have put in some really good work this week."
It'll be the first game of the year for Milwaukee. MATC was scheduled to open against Black Hawk, but the heat wave that struck central Illinois this past week swept a slew of Region 4 matches.

Last Time Out This will be the first meeting between the two sides since 2021, where the Golden Eagles won 13-0 in Milwaukee and 6-1 at home. The 5-0 defeat to St. Charles last Sunday was the largest margin of defeat in head coach Tim Romanello's tenure at Rock Valley College.
