Rock Valley Men's Soccer post season run comes to an end in Tucson.

The Golden Eagles season came to an end Monday night with a 5-1 loss to Pima Community College in the Division 2 NJCAA National Tournament. RVC ended their season with a record of 13-8-2, giving Coach Romanello and the Golden Eagles their 3rd straight 10-win season.

The Golden Eagles went on a magical run to earn themselves an at-large bid to the national tournament. After their first 10 games RVC was 5-5 and coming off of 3 straight losses. Backed into a corner the Golden Eagles would respond by routing Joliet Junior College 5-1 on September 26th and would then go on to go 6-0-2 in their last 8 matches of the regular season.

Rock Valley was red hot heading into the Region 4 Tournament, the magic and hot play would continue! The Golden Eagles would go on to win a thrilling first round match 4-3 over the #16 ranked Morton Panthers, who was the #3 seed for the tournament. With the game being played on October 28th and the win, this meant that RVC hadn't lost in over a month. RVC was not satisfied as they would then go on to upset #20 Carl Sandburg by a score of 1-0 with Taylor Sowell scoring a goal in the 79th minute to push the Golden Eagles into the Championship match.

Rock Valley would face the defending national champion and #10 in the country Prairie State in the Region 4 Championship. The Golden Eagles would fall to Prairie State in a battle 3-2. However, the dynamic play of RVC over the last month would capture the committee's attention and earn them an at-large bid and the #9 seed in the National Tournament in Tucson, Arizona.

In Tucson the Golden Eagles would fall to Iowa Lakes and Pima ending their magical run.

Rock Valley Men's Soccer has already put themselves on the national stage at the NJCAA Division 2 level in just two short seasons and this looks like it may just be the start for Rock Valley Men's Soccer program.
