Rock Valley added another W to the win column Tuesday Afternoon, making it their third consecutive win in a row. The 2-1 win marks the first win for the Golden Eagle's against Triton College during Coach Romanello's time at the helm and pushes RVC to an 8-5 record.Ā
Rock Valley won, but the Trojans battled and did not make anything easy for the Golden Eagles. The Golden Eagles won the possession battle by controlling 56.9% of possession compared to Triton's 43.1%. Despite the possession advantage leaning toward Rock Valley the Trojans were able to muster one more shot attempt than RVC. However, the Golden Eagles were able to take more than triple shots on goal compared to Triton 10-3. RVC would also battle back from a 1-0 deficit to win the game.Ā
First HalfĀ
The first half started off quickly with Triton's Paul Urban finding the back of the net in the 12th minute of the match, Urban was assisted by Pablo De La Cruz. The fireworks were not over for the first half as 8 minutes later Triton earned a red card. The Golden Eagles would strike instantly off the penalty as Bryan Cuevas-Tapia scored on a free kick in the 20th minute stemming from the red card.Ā There were 6 cards handed out during the first half with 5 yellow cards being seen and the already mentionedĀ red card inĀ the 20th minute.Ā The last 25 minutes would go scoreless, and we would head to half 1-1 with RVC being able to play a man up the last 45 minutes.Ā
Second HalfĀ
Playing a man up the Golden Eagles were able to take advantage early in the second half, with Max Rebori scoring in the 56th minute off an assist from Taylor Sowell. Just like the first half, after the early goal there would be plenty of cards being handed out. Rock Valley would go on to put plenty of pressure on the Trojans in the second half with 5 shots on goal in the 2nd Half and only 1 for the Triton. Despite the pressure the net would not be found by either team the rest of the match and Rock Valley would walk away with a 2-1 victory.Ā

The Golden Eagles improved to 8-5 on the year and 7-4 in Region 4 play. Triton College falls to 4-2-2 on the season. The Golden Eagles will return to action Saturday, October 7th, when they head to Grayslake, IL to take on the College of Lake County Lancers, with kickoff scheduled for 12:00pm cst.Ā
