Men's Basketball Crowned Region IV Champions

Region IV Semi-Finals
On Friday night the #2 seeded Golden Eagles hosted the #3 seeded Wolfpack of Madison College in the Region Semis. In front of a great crowd the Golden Eagles would escape in overtime to advance to the finals. RVC jumped out early on the Wolfpack in the first half. Scoring the first nine points of the game and never looking back in the first twenty minutes. The Golden Eagles would enter the half time break with a nine point lead, 27-36. The second half was a different story. The Wolfpack would get extremely hot from the field and shot a blistering 74%, to top it off they would shoot 80% from 3pt and make twelve three pointers in the second half alone. Their final 3pt made basket would come at the buzzer to force over time, with a score of 80-80. In overtime the Wolfpack would score the first basket but the Golden Eagles would answer with a three to regain the lead. RVC would hold the lead in overtime and come away with the win, 93-86. 

Chris Burnell was the catalyst for the Golden Eagles in this one. He led all scores with 23pts, added 9rebs and 5asts. Nick Pierson would post a huge double-double with 21pts and 14rebs. Malik Marshall (15), Aleksa Markovic (11) and George Williams (10) would all reach double digits in scoring.

Region IV Championship
On Championship Sunday the #2 Golden Eagles would travel to #1 seeded Joliet JC. The Wolves entered the game with a 26-3 record and the Golden Eagles with a 19-9 record. The Wolves had beat the Golden Eagles in the two previous match ups. Joliet would jump on RVC early with an 8-0 run to start the game but the Golden Eagles would come roaring back to take an 18-10 lead. The Golden Eagles would enter the break with a 16pt lead, 43-27. Malik Marshall led the charge in the first half with 15pts. The second half scoring was back and forth for the first 10min of the second half. Joliet would make a run and cut the lead to as little as 8pts but the Golden Eagles wouldn't let it get any closer. RVC would get three consecutive stops down the stretch of the game to put it away. Rock Valley is your D3 Region IV Champions by a score of 78-61.

Malik Marshall would lead all scores in the game with 17pts. Chris Burnell would post 11pts, 6ast and 4rebs. Aleksa Markovic (13), Nick Pierson (11) and Jackson Copley (10) would all score in double figures.
