Rockford, IL -- Rock Valley College found their winning ways again, snapping a three-match losing slide with a 2-0  win over over Milwaukee Area Technical College, Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore Pedro Acosta scored in the match's second minute on a nicely-threaded ball from Danny Alcala. Acosta eluded the first defender, then slotted the game-winner past the goalkeeper. The team's possession and defense would take care of the rest as the Golden Eagles won their fifth game of the season.

Generating nine first-half shots and scoring in the opening moments, it felt as if the Golden Eagles would be firing on all cylinders. However, the Rock Valley men would add only one more goal, a 50th-minute set-piece from freshman Bernie Dominguez.

"The score hardly projects today's match," said head coach Tim Romanello following the match. "20 shots, eleven on goal, three posts, two crossbars and a goal called back. The final really doesn't do our team's performance any justice. I thought we controlled everything from the start, had the lionshare of possession and our shots had a lot of quality to them. We're just missing that end product, again."

Rock Valley College would take a 2-0 lead and a man advantage after MATC had a player ejected in the 56th-minute, but RVC wouldn't be able to add to their lead, despite several opportunities that would strike the post or the crossbar.

Rock Valley College will host Madison on Saturday in their return leg in both team's regular-season finale. Kickoff is scheduled for 12p.m.
