M-Basketball: RVC Advances to the Region IV Semifinals with Win Over Harper
Despite struggling through their first 10 minutes, Rock Valley College Men's Basketball found their groove in order to cruise into the Region IV Semifinals with an 84-65 win over Harper College. The 26-5 Golden Eagles will take on Madison College in Madison, WI at 7 PM on Saturday, February 24th.
"We put entirely too much pressure on ourselves to win the game in the first handful of offensive possessions," stated Head Men's Basketball Coach
Evan Lavery. "Once we settled in, we did some nice things. It is all about surviving and advancing at this point. We will continue to work, correct our mistakes, and gear up for our game against Madison."
The Golden Eagle offense was efficient all evening. RVC shot 33-64 (51.6%) from the field, 12-27 (44.4%) from three-point range, and 6-8 (75%) from the free throw line. The Golden Eagles also dished out 21 assists on their 33 made field goals.
Elijah Pappas led the way with 24 points on 8-14 shooting.
Darius Branch netted 14 points, while
Malique Ross and
DeAnte Barnes added 12 points each.
DeMari Davis recorded a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.
