LT Davis leads six Golden Eagles in double-figures in blow-out win over Wright College on Wednesday

Box Score The Rock Valley College men's basketball team checked in at #1 in the NJCAA DIII national poll again this week and flexed their muscle in a conference matchup over NJCAA D2 member Wright College in Chicago on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles would take down the Rams 99-65 by putting six guys in double-figure scoring.

LT Davis (Rockford, IL) led the charge scoring 23 points on 7-12 from the field in 26 minutes of play.  Elijah Williams (Chicago, IL) scored 19 points (8-9 FG).  The RVC big man, who is averaging 16.3 points per game this season, is currently ranked 2nd in NJCAA DIII in field goal percentage hitting 66% of his shots.  Kooper Glick (Columbus, IN) scored 16 points while Dalton Payton (Byron, IL) filled up the box score with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists on the night. Jace Kitchen (DeKalb, IL) scored 11 points on 4-5 from the field while Mo Jackson (Belvidere) chipped in with 10 points and had a game-high 5 assists to go along with 0 turnovers.

"We moved the ball around well again tonight," head coach Craig Doty said after the win in which Rock Valley dished out 22 assists as a team. "Additionally, we out-rebounded our opponent and forced 20 turnovers. It isn't just about winning the game, we want to play great every second we are on the floor. Tonight we are very pleased with our effort and execution."

The Golden Eagles held a 40-25 rebounding advantage and held Wright College to 40% shooting in the first half allowing them to build a 52-24 halftime advantage.  RVC shot 33-62 (.532) from the field including 10-21 (.476) from behind the 3-point line.

Rock Valley College improves to 21-2, 5-2 N4C while Wright College falls to 1-18, 0-7 N4C.

The Golden Eagles host Harper College on Saturday as a part of the Rumble in the Rock event.  RVC tips off the night cap with game-time scheduled for 8:00 PM in the Physical Education Center on the campus of Rock Valley College.
