The Rock Valley College men's soccer team traveled to Palatine, Illinois on Friday to take on the #1 ranked team in the North Central Community College Conference (N4C).  The Golden Eagles, who played Harper to a 2-2 tie earlier in the season, upset the Hawks 1-0 to walk away with the victory.

The Golden Eagles (7-3-2; 4-3-1 N4C) have now won four straight games; Harper College (7-3-2, 7-1-1 N4C) takes their first loss of the conference season.

David Rebollar scored the lone goal of the contest (unassisted) at the 41 minute mark of the first half.  Despite both teams having opportunities to score throughout the second half, RVC's defense came up big in defending their 1-0 lead behind goalkeeper Jesus Galvez.  The Golden Eagles goalie made a great save halfway through the second half to keep the shutout alive and ultimately, help secure the win for RVC.

"It was an outstanding performance by our guys on a very windy and awkward day for a futbol match," Head Coach Frank Horvat said.  "We still have a lot of work to do over the next two weeks in order to finish in the top of the conference."

Harper still holds a steady conference lead at 7-1-1 while the Golden Eagles are tied for second with Madison College, each boasting a 4-3-1 record.  RVC and Madison split this season with Rock Valley taking down the Wolfpack in overtime earlier in the week.  Triton College comes in fouth with a 4-4 N4C mark while Joliet Junior College comes in fifth with a 3-4-1 record.  Milwaukee is 0-7 and rounds out the conference.

The Golden Eagles play at Milwaukee on Wednesday at 4:00 PM.  RVC won the first contest 7-1 in Rockford on September 9th.
